Make this your dashboard
This whole thing is one HTML file built with Claude. You can fork it, add the metrics you actually care about, and rebuild it in minutes — no coding.
1
Save this page to your computer (⌘S / Ctrl+S) so you have the HTML file.
2
Open claude.ai, start a new chat, and upload the HTML file.
3
Paste this prompt to get started — change the part in [brackets] to whatever you want:
This is a small-business P&L dashboard built as a single HTML file. I want you to add [a runway KPI that divides current cash on hand by average monthly OPEX]. Keep the existing design system, fonts, and color palette. Return the full updated HTML file.
4
Claude returns a new HTML file. Save it, open it in your browser — done. Your version, your metrics.
How to use this dashboard
A quick guide to getting your business's transactions into this page and reading the P&L it builds — and what happens to your data once it's here.
Getting started
1
Export a statement from your business bank or card account. Most business banking portals have an "Export" or "Download statement" option — pick CSV, Excel or PDF, for whatever date range you want on the P&L.
2
Drag the file(s) onto the drop zone (or click to browse). You can drop more than one statement at once — they'll be combined and de-duplicated automatically.
3
Click "Build my P&L." Deposits become Revenue, everything else becomes OPEX and gets auto-categorised — no upload, no server, it all happens right here in this browser tab.
4
Not ready to upload real data? Click "Try it with sample data" on the start screen to explore the dashboard with a demo small-business dataset first.
Once you're in
5
Add a recurring fixed cost (top bar) for anything that doesn't show up on the statement — rent, a lease, a retainer — so it's folded into OPEX every month it applies.
6
Use the Period filters at the top of most tabs to pick exactly which months belong on the P&L — click a month to add or remove it from the view, or use a preset like "This year" or "YTD."
7
Click into anything. Bars, pie slices, vendors and KPIs all open a transaction list — from there you can re-categorise a line into the right OPEX bucket, split a shared charge, or exclude a transaction entirely.
Common questions
Is my data actually private?
Yes — this file never sends anything to a server. Parsing, categorising and charting all run in your browser's JavaScript engine. Opening this file with no internet connection works exactly the same way.
Will I lose my data if I close the tab?
No. Your transactions, edits, categories and fixed costs are saved automatically to this browser's local storage on this device. Reopen the same HTML file in the same browser later and it picks up right where you left off. Clearing your browser data, or opening the file in a different browser or device, will not carry it over.
How does the dashboard know what's Revenue vs OPEX?
Any deposit into the account (a credit) is treated as Revenue; any money out (a debit) is treated as OPEX and run through the auto-categoriser. If a bank transfer or loan repayment gets picked up as Revenue by mistake, exclude it from its transaction list.
A transaction landed in the wrong OPEX category — can I fix it?
Yes. Click any chart, KPI or vendor to open its transaction list, then use the category dropdown on any row to change it. Your correction is remembered.
How do I start over with a clean slate?
Use "+ Upload new CSVs" in the top bar — it asks you to confirm, then clears everything saved in this browser and takes you back to the upload screen.
Can I make this dashboard track something else?
Yes — use "✦ Remix in Claude" to get a ready-made prompt for customising this exact file with Claude, no coding required.
Recurring fixed cost
Rent, lease or any other flat monthly cost that doesn't show up on the bank statement — add it here to fold it into OPEX each month. Paid quarterly or annually? Convert it to a monthly figure first. Saved locally in this browser, across visits.
